Solopreneur Coaching

If you have a love-hate relationship with sitting alone at a coffee shop working on your latest project [hopefully] without interruption, you might be a solopreneur. We love to work with others, but we don’t want to work for others. This path is a mixed bag of freedom and frustration, excitement and isolation, digging deep and working hard. It takes a special kind of person to keep pushing when progress is slow to measure. But one taste of the accomplishment that comes from getting it done on your own and you are hooked.

Solopreneurs set out on a path to live a unique life. They create businesses, art, charities, personal care services, novels. They become resources in gardening, personal fitness, living healthy. They offer services in their communities like home-improvement, estate planning, event coordination. They are the DIY guides in jewelry making, sign painting, and oil changing. Solopreneurs have an intense and amazing desire to offer others what they know how to do and how they can add their lives. Their journeys are different than traditional businesses, or even traditional entrepreneurs. Not fitting into this category can leave solopreneurs out on the own.

There is no way to sugar coat this, working for yourself, on your own, is tough. It’s filled with challenges and unknowns. What I have discovered is that the people who make it work and get the results they set their sights on are the ones who find a tribe. Or at least a person. Collaboration is a truly underrated secret ingredient of success. Bouncing ideas off someone, pouring out your thoughts and plans and goals on the table and sorting through them with another set of eyes to create strategies, hearing yourself talk about what gets you up in the morning – and what keeps you working through the night – these are the things that I do with my [favorite] clients.

A lot of my coaching clients are experiencing transitions, personal or professional, and they are amazing to work with. But what I have discovered over the past almost ten years of doing this work is that I love working with people who want to create something of their own. It energizes me to hear about the big plans and tall orders of someone’s dreams. I did this for a long time without realizing it – I would get a call from a friend or acquaintance inviting me to coffee (I drink tea, fwiw) to talk about their new project or a stalled idea. And I realized that we were really on the same path. I was just a few steps ahead of them.

So now, since tea doesn’t grow on trees, I call these friends and acquaintances: clients. And I work hard to support them to reach their goal to create a sustainable solo-business. If you are ready to have someone in your corner, reach out to me to learn more about solopreneur coaching. All of my contact information is below on the right side of the page. It makes my day to hear about what makes your world complete.

Collaborating, setting workable goals, managing the overwhelm of balancing your passion with your life, sharing your progress and moving through your challenges is simply easier when you partner with someone. If you are a solopreneur – or think you might be but aren’t quite sure – reach out to me. Tell me your story, what you want to achieve, what’s working and what’s not and let’s come up with a plan to share what you do with the world (or at least the local area!). You deserve to be recognized and valued for what you do. Let’s get on that.
